                         Bread and Butter Pickles 1

  Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method

  4         Quarts  Cucumbers, Sliced without peelings
  1         Green Pepper, Chopped
  1         Sweet Red Pepper, Chopped
  3         Medium  Onions, Sliced
  2         Whole  Garlic Cloves
                        Brine
  5         Cups  Sugar
  1 1/2   teaspoons  Tumeric
  1 1/2   teaspoons  Celery Seed
  3         tablespoons  Mustard Seed
  3         Cups  Cider Vinegar

Place in large container and pour 1/3 cup canning salt and 1 1/2 trays of ice cubes 
over cucumbers. Mix well and let stand at least 3 hours. Drain well and pack into jars. 
Cover with hot brine and seal. 
Brine: Cook brine to boiling before pouring over pickles.
